Sohomare

History

The brewery was located in Shiga Prefecture during Edo Period, and later moved into Tochigi Prefecture in Meiji Era. In 2011, the Tohoku Earthquake affected several areas in Japan, including Tochigi, and most of the facilities in Sohomare Brewery were destroyed. The company spent 4 years to rebuild its establishment with offices and tasting rooms, branding with a fresh new image in sake industry.

Located in the Haga District of Tochigi Prefecture
A bottle of sake can reflect the personality of one brewery, and Sohomare Brewery hopes to communicate with the sake lovers about the beauty of such personality.
The flavour of Sohomare sakes is often described as "dry but not spicy" due to the soft water in the area. The brewers select the best quality of Yamada Nishiki rice in their products, which consists of above 50% of the production, including even in their house sake.
