Tenpai

History

Founded in 1898, the distillery started off with Sake Kasu Shochu, a type of distilled alcohol using the sake lees (leftover after the sake production) as the main ingredient. They also had expeirence to process various ingredients into alcoholic beverages.

The distillery is located within the Asakura of Chikuzen area of Fukuoka Prefecture
Tenpai Distillery is the first distillery applied 100% barley and barley koji under "atmospheric distillation", a method used by many distilleries these days. As time passed, Tenpai would develop the unique "double atmospheric distillation" technique to search various concepts of Japanese shochu.
To introduce new perception in Japnese shochu, the distillery makes efforts in selecting high quality barley and honing their skills during production in order to maximize the potential from the ingredients
