Ibuki

History

A brewery founded during the Tenpo era of Edo Period, dedicating in sake making for over 200 years.

The brewery is located in a small town in Fukushima Prefecture named Furudono. The area is a hub of natural resources closed to Abukuma Mountain, which the water from the mountain provides the characters of Toyokuni Brewery's sakes.
In 2011, 9th president of Toyokuni Brewery, Mr. Kensei Yanai, announced the "Ibuki" series, with a concept that fuses both tradition and modern aspects into one bottle. It reflects its 200 year-old history of sake making and his resolve in protecting its culture, with each step counted to move forward to the objectives.
Toyokuni Brewery started their business with the sake brand "Azumi Toyokuni", which is continuing till this day as a symbol of their tradtion. In contrast, the "Ibuki" represents innovation and continuity of traditon. Each bottle of "Ibuki" sake are designed with different green coloured label to reflect the environmental change of Furudono in different seasons, adding a touch of communication between people and brewery's sakes.
