Kamoizumi

History

Founded in 1912, the brand name "Kamoizumi" was inspired by the water (Izumi means "water" in Japanese) from Kamo area. The brewery was once destroyed during World War II, but it was later rebuilt by the 2nd president in the aftermath of the war. They started experimenting in brewing with rice and rice koji in 1965, and numerous attempts ended up in failure. However, in 1972, the efforts were paid off with their new "Honjikomi Kamoizumi" sakes, and Kamoizumi Brewery gained status among the industry as the pioneer of "Junmai sakes". The brewery would eventually reach its international audiences to show the flavour of Kaomizumi sakes.

Located in the Higashi Hiroshima of Hiroshima Prefecture
Surrounded by the irreplaceable natural resources and inherit its predecessors' techniques, the brewery creates its sakes with high quality ingredients and a strong bond of Hiroshima culture
Aside from selection of good quality rice, the brewery would often skip charcoal filtration to maintain some of the flavour and aroma, resulting its signature light golden colour of the sakes
